OUR FOOD

Originally established as part of the estate in the mid-19th century, our Home Farm was an exemplar of the self-sustaining relationship between land and House – a relationship that we are steadily and carefully re-establishing. Today, it is tended by a committed group of farmers and growers, all dedicated to the continuous evolution of the estate.

A tapestry of 360 acres of pasture and arable land, the farm is home to Guernsey cows, a beef herd, Saddleback pigs, Suffolk sheep and free-range chickens. In 2020, we opened our own dairy, which generates wholesome Guernsey milk to make cream and butter at Home Farm and yoghurts at the House. We also work with our local cheesemaker Village Maid, who make cheese with our Heckfield milk.

In the biodynamic Market Garden, herbs, vegetables, fruit and fresh flowers are grown for the House. Our five polytunnels allow produce and flowers to thrive earlier in the season, and you’ll find the many ingredients we grow on our menus throughout the year. When we can’t source from Home Farm, we look to suppliers that share our ethos and respect for treading lightly.

Explore our menus below, and if you have any questions about particular ingredients or dishes, let our team know and they’d be delighted to speak with you about them.
