WELCOME TO HECKFIELD

OVER THE YEARS THESE CORRIDORS HAVE RUNG WITH THE VOICES OF MANY GENERATIONS OF THE FAMILIES SHAW-LEFEVRE AND WALPOLE. THEY WELCOMED VISITORS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO ENJOY THEIR BEAUTIFUL ESTATE, HOSTING SALONS AND TEA PARTIES ON THE ROOF, WITH COLOURFUL CHARACTERS PASSING THROUGH ITS DOORS. WE HOPE TO CONTINUE WITH THIS RICH TAPESTRY.

Room tour

Heckfield Place is a hotel, it is a country house, and it is also a home, a very grand one, but still a home. We hope that you will consider it yours during your stay here. We hope to show you around the House, the gardens and the grounds personally. It is extensive, with more than 400 acres to discover and to get lost in. We have listed all you need to know in these pages, and would be happy to clarify, expand and embellish any of the information- you only need to ask, and we will ‘ do the needful’.

Our household staff are on hand 24 hours a day and at your disposal. Simply ask and we will do our utmost to oblige.

THE HOUSE

THE MOON BAR

When the sun sets, the Moon Bar comes to life. Drinks and infusions are made with the freshest ingredients, breathing new life and flavour into classic cocktails and inspiring our own unique creations. The Moon Bar is the house’s most intimate of meeting places. The Moon Bar is open from 11 am to 11 pm

MARLE

At Heckfield Place we believe that the very best tasting food is locally and bio-dynamically grown. Using a pared-back style of cooking we strive to allow diners to experience the excitement and immediacy of food served straight from the earth. Marle is open for reservations to both residents and outside guests.

HEARTH

Centred around an open fire, the cooking at Hearth is simple and heartfelt. Using classic cooking methods and focusing on the very best products available on the day, we offer a menu that expresses the privilege we feel in working so closely with the land and the bounty it has to offer.

SUN HOUSE

Hugged by the sun, sheltered from the breeze,
the glass-centric Sun House’s afternoon tea is set among the lavender, wisteria and peonies of the restored Upper Walled Garden.

DINING ROOM

Softly lit and beautifully dressed, the Dining Room’s communal long table is a place both to eat and to meet, as well as offering an exquisite private dining experience for any special occasion.

SCREENING ROOM

Open to both residents and outside visitors, the screening room offers a curated programme of films, from current releases and documentaries to live screenings and film festivals, as well as being available for private events.

WINE CELLAR

Beneath the house, our 280 bin cellar holds sensational wines from established and emerging producers, to be discovered and tasted in the adjoining cellar bar with our resident sommelier.

LITTLE BOTHY SPA

Our Little Bothy Spa is a home from home. We focus on holistic details and creating a wonderfully cosy feeling. You will find the Spa tucked into the Corridors and nestled to the Estate Cottages overlooking the walled gardens that surround us. The treatments are simple and effective with the menu changing with the seasons and keeping us in tune with nature. Our Spa is open from 11 am to 7 pm from Monday to Saturday (last booking at 5.30 pm) and 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday

BODYISM GYM

The Bodyism gym can be found in the Keepers Cottage overlooking the Upper Walled Garden. We are offering one to one personal training, yoga and pilates tailored to each guest’s need. Walks and runs around the beautiful estate can also be arranged. The Keepers Cottage Bodyism Gym is open from 7.30 am to 9 pm.

THE ESTATE

PLEASURE GROUNDS

THE LAKES, GARDENS & WOODLANDS

Walking through the ancient heathers, gardens and woodlands, the landscape is punctuated by trees planted in the 18th Century by pioneering horticulturalist William Wildsmith. East of the House, the upper and lower lakes at Heckfield are perfect for a quiet stroll.

THE WALLED GARDEN AND SUN HOUSE

Open to the sun, sheltered from the breeze, the Walled Gardens offer seclusion in the quiet calm of nature. Set within its walls, the Sun House is a functioning part of the gardens and can be transformed into an extraordinary venue for private dining.

HOME FARM

In the riches of our Hampshire landscape, our Home Farm is central to our belief in sustainability and legacy. Each day it provides fruit, vegetables, honey and fresh flowers for the restaurants and rooms. We encourage guests to discover the farm for themselves and to pick fresh ingredients to be prepared for their supper.
